Jerusalem Square, Halle/Saale

Jerusalem Square, Halle/Saale

In the middle of the Old Town of Halle, the hall was built in 1870. In the Reichsprogromnacht of 9/10/11/1938 these were destroyed as well as innumerable others by the National Socialists.

Only the portal, which stood in the direction of Grosse Berlin Strasse, could be saved. In memory of the many Jewish victims, a place was created in 1965 into which the portal was integrated.

In 1984 the surrounding residential area was partially rebuilt and the square was also redesigned. The portal was rebuilt and rebuilt in 1987 at the current site.
