This picture of Oma with a chicken was taken in 1957. My cousin Harold raised this chicken from an egg for a science project. Uncle Walter made an incubator in his workshop and got a real chicken egg from a farmer. The chicken had a name, which I remember but have no idea how to spell. It became sort of a pet but Oma wanted to make soup out of it. She lost out but so did the chicken. Uncle Walter took it to one of the farmers that he bought cows from and the other chickens pecked it to death.
